'Facing the Fixer' is a documentary film that reveals the invisible force behind all foreign news. Fixers give foreign correspondents invaluable cultural insight, but often they replace the journalist by conducting interviews, locating sources and, most crucially, translating. In countries of authoritarian ruling or ongoing conflict, fixers put themselves at great risk by associating themselves with foreign journalists and have even been killed for doing so. This film asks why Western news organisations deny fixers a chance to report their stories indepently?
